Ludwig Hartmann is the sole propreitor of Old World Masonry. He studied and did his apprenticeship in Stone Masonry in Germany over 30 years ago and continued perfecting his skill working with various companies over a number of years. He started his own Stone Masonry business in New Brunswick, Canada, after moving here with his family in 1992.
His work can be seen in various places in and around Saint John. Some of the more notable being the cobblestone work done on the Loyalist Burial Ground as well as new stone construction and restoration on various historic buildings and residences in Saint John. Ludwig has also contributed to the Artistic Community in the area by sculpting the John Peter's Humphrey memorial stones designed by Cathy Hooper at the Courthouse in Hampton, New Brunswick. Other unique projects include the carving of the Ten Commandments on large stone tablets outside the Shaarei Zedek Jewish congregation on Leinster St. in Saint John, designing and installing a Japanese garden table and stools made out of granite as well as the restoration of a historical horse trough on the West Side of Saint John.
